from: Ohio Campgrounds Offer Old-Fashioned Midwestern Fun

The Buckeye State may not have the great mountain ranges offered by other states; yet, it still provides plenty of lovely scenery for vacationers. And if you happen to be a camper, you should be aware of the fact that Ohio campgrounds offer you the opportunity to enjoy the best of Midwestern hospitality. In fact, the campgrounds of Ohio may be the backdrop for some of your best family vacations ever.

While Ohio might be considered a small state geographically, it still boasts a number of fine camping sites. Generally speaking, the state is divided into five distinct camping regions: northwest, northeast, central, southwest, and southeast. Each region has its own distinct flavor and style.

For instance, if you’re interested in Ohio campgrounds in the central part of the state, you have a number of intriguing options. Foremost among these is Rippling Stream Campground in Baltimore, Ohio. In addition to offering a full picnic area, Rippling Stream is home to a game room, bingo, movie night, potlucks, hayrides, and horseshoes. When you tire of hiking, you can also take a dip in the campground swimming pool.

If you’d like to explore Ohio campgrounds in the northwest section of the state why not try the Surf Motel and RV Campground in Marblehead? This Ottawa County camping site overlooks lovely Lake Erie, along with the famous Kelly’s Island and the scenic Put-In-Bay. This campground also has a number of amenities, including picnic tables, an outdoor pool, and opportunities for boating and fishing.

If you’re traveling through southeastern Ohio, consider a stop at Forest Haven in Chillicothe. This primitive campground is considered to be an especially tranquil parcel of land. While Forest Haven is one of those Ohio campgrounds that stresses simple living, it does offer luxuries such as electricity, laundry, hot showers, and flush toilets. For recreation, consider spending one afternoon fishing, another swimming or wading, and yet another riding a paddleboat.

Because Ohio is such a family-oriented state, you’ll find there are plenty of Ohio campgrounds to choose from—no matter what area of the state you’re vacationing in. Camping is one of those special summer activities that can bring a family together as nothing else can. Simple pleasures such as dining together at a spacious picnic table or sleeping beneath the stars can provide wonderful memories for you and your children. So, while Ohio campgrounds may not have the glamour of Vegas casinos or Florida amusement parks, they offer plenty of opportunities for family fun. In fact, once you’ve vacationed at an Ohio campsite, you may find that you and your family want to return again and again in an effort to repeat some of those cherished moments together.
