Get yourself some good hiking boots and break them in before you go on vacation. There is nothing worse than blistered feet, combine that with aching shoulders and you really are setting yourself up for an unhappy time. Wear warm and waterproof clothing and carry only essential camping equipment, backpacking can get miserable if you weigh yourself down with too much stuff.
